DESCRIPTION:Fifty Years of Painting marks a remarkable journey through five decades of artistic life. From the quiet lyricism of his early landscapes to the freer\, more intuitive works of recent years\, David’s paintings trace a deep engagement with place\, memory\, and time. \nBorn in Dublin and now based in Plymouth\, David’s work is shaped by his travels across the world\, whilst in the Royal Navy — from North America to the Middle East and the Falklands — his vision has been continually broadened by experience. The light\, weather\, and atmosphere of these journeys echo through his work\, infusing it with a sense of movement and reflection. \nMusic\, too\, is ever-present: the voices of Tom Waits\, Laurie Anderson\, and Leonard Cohen drifting through the studio as rhythm and tone find their way into paint.
